You may initiate a group call on WhatsApp by choosing particular members of the group without bothering anybody else

WhatsApp has introduced new video calling features ahead of the holiday season, enhancing its appeal for both personal and professional use.

These updates include the ability to choose specific participants for group video calls, improved resolution, and a refreshed call tab on the desktop app. This move aligns with Meta's efforts to position WhatsApp as a strong alternative to platforms like Google Meet and Zoom.

Previously, WhatsApp allowed users to initiate calls with an entire group chat. However, the new participant selection feature lets users call only certain members of the group, which is particularly useful when only a few people are available or when planning a surprise.

The update also brings fun video call effects, such as adding puppy ears, creating an underwater environment, or handing users a karaoke microphone.

On the desktop app, the redesigned call tab now prominently displays options to start a call, create a call link, or dial a number. Additionally, WhatsApp is enhancing video call resolution for both one-on-one and group calls across mobile and desktop.

Over the past year, WhatsApp has significantly upgraded its video calling capabilities. These include support for up to 32 participants, a speaker spotlight feature for highlighting active speakers, and screen sharing with audio. Given that many organizations use WhatsApp for internal communication, these improvements make it a more viable tool for work-related video calls.
