Multiplayer minigames are being tested by YouTube

YouTube is testing multiplayer functionality within its "Playables" collection, a series of lightweight, free games. Currently, games like Ludo Club and Magic Tiles 3 offer this feature.

The company stated, “We’re beginning to test a new multiplayer feature for a few select games on YouTube Playables. Multiplayer on Playables lets you play games in real-time with other users.”

YouTube has been experimenting with Playables on its app and website for about a year. Initially restricted to premium users, the platform opened its free game library to all users in May. Today, the Playables catalog features over 130 games across various categories, including Action, Arcade, Brain & Puzzle, Trivia & Word, Racing, Simulation, and Sports.

This move aligns with a broader trend, as other platforms like Netflix and LinkedIn have also incorporated games to enhance user engagement beyond their primary functions of streaming or social networking.
